U.S. Military veteran Gray “T.M.” Fuss is an American songwriter, rapper, and producer who scored several top chart positions in the country. He is giving a new beat to the rap landscape with his feel-good, infectious tracks. The artist is best known for his ability to seamlessly combine pop, hip-hop, and high energy dance music to create his own unique sound.
Gray’s passion for music started early on in his life. At 14, he would host punk and grunge shows in his mom’s garage. The artist grew up in a broken home, but music became his comfort. Later on, he moved out of their house and enlisted to join the military at 17 years old. He was deployed to parts of Kuwait and Iraq and served for the country’s defense for a total of seven years.
Upon leaving the military at 25 years old, Gray struggled to find employment. Still, he tried his luck and moved to Las Vegas. The artist went back to music, his true passion because “I needed to forge my own path in life to acquire the things and life I desired.” In Vegas, Gray hosted punk, metalcore, screamo, and hardcore shows. He also managed groups, including the band called So Long Solitude. He was able to perform in big stages with the band, and together, they released four songs.
However, knowing what he is capable of, Gray wanted to pursue his brand. After ten years of waiting, the artist finally got his veteran’s benefits and decided to use the money to invest in himself and his music. Many people told him that he was not good enough for the music industry. But Gray persevered to prove them wrong. He was optimistic and dedicated. At some point, he told himself, “I’ll just keep on doing me. Let them live life in doubt.”
When Gray released his first single called “#YoungRichandSexy,” it landed the number 2 spot on the Beatport HipHop Top 100 charts, a sales-driven chart system. The single gained Gray a considerable number of fans online. It obtained around 83,000 streams on Spotify and over 7,000 views on his youtube channel. The track was also played on regular rotation on 97.9, The Beat FM in Greenville, Mississippi. “#YoungRichandSexy” was produced by Gray’s good friend, Kyle “BG3nius” Cunningham.
Together with his young protégé, Yung Salvo, Gray released several other singles. They started working together when Salvo was only 15 years old. The duo has released several singles during the three years of their collaboration, including tracks called “Work” and “Icy”—with the former track earning over 20,000 streams on Spotify. On July 30, the artist and his protégé released their song called “Shaolin.”
Today, Gray is working hard on releasing his biggest project to date. The track is set to launch in September and will feature Gray’s first track produced with a significant artist. As soon as it hits music platforms, the collaboration will surely capture the attention of hip-hop and rap enthusiasts globally.
Gray is motivated by the stories and works of other significant artists such as The Beatles and Nirvana. Today, he has been self-releasing his tracks under his own imprint, Loose Cannon records. The artist is looking forward to working with other prominent names and companies in the music industry.
