Alexandra started as an acting professional at the age of seventeen. She studied “The Method” at “The Actor’s Studio” and reveres the craft. At the moment she is shooting a full feature film “Hollywood Movie” which is based on her award winning short “Green Kola”
“Green Kola” is a satirical comedy about the machinations that take place behind the scenes of Hollywood and Madison Avenue. How marketing and celebrity goes hand in hand and the opportunistic players who surround those businesses.
The main protagonist is an actress named Nina Finch whose life seems golden till comprising photos of her are found. Which throws a monkey wrench into her Oscar Campaign.
We ask Alexandra what her schedule is like during shoots. Since I am the Producer, Director, and Actor on each day, “I go to bed early, and when I get up, I spend time with my dog, which I find relaxing. I drink tea, meditate on the day with gratitude and get to the set early to make sure all the equipment has been delivered and departments are all in place”.
“On set I tell my team what shots I want first. Then I get into hair and makeup, so I am out of the way first. While multitasking on set, it is important that I stay nourished. It is a necessity to keep my energy up for the large tasks at hand that can be taxing on the mind and body. Playing all parts makes for intense, long days. The team I build around me is vitally important! It really takes a village to make a film.”
“I’m jumping in front of and behind the camera all day long. Switching from acting to directing is tough, but I prepare for so long before we shoot, that by the time I’m there, I can flow with whatever is happening and think on my feet. Being a problem solver is number 1! After a long day I get home to my chihuahua “Monalisa” (who’s been with a sitter, not alone) and totally collapse into my pillow. Everyday, repeated with new energy and new problems to solve. There really is no business like show business.”
When she is not shooting, Alexandra’s still deeply passionate about acting, which she says has gotten more clear since she started directing. “I have an understanding of what the film needs technically so I am a lot more free and flowing with my obligation to the film. Therefore it’s a lot more fun!”
Vino will be back in NYC soon to finish another part of the movie.
