In a recent interview granted by Hollywood’s King of Cleavage, Dr. Sean Kelishadi, he was asked to share a little about himself and why he chose to become a plastic surgeon. Dr. Sean Kelishadi was born in Tehran, Iran, and moved to Los Angeles when he was five years old in 1982. He spent 20 years away from “home” to become a plastic surgeon, starting with his college years at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, then medical school in Memphis, TN, then General Surgery training at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD, and finally Plastic Surgery training at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY.
He married his wife Sherry, who is a pharmacist, on 07/07/07, seven months after they met. They have two children, Nadia, who is eight years old, and Aidan, who is two. He chose to become a plastic surgeon because he loves the opportunity to be creative, solve problems, and help people. In plastic surgery, there are no limits, and he loves the ability to learn and innovate continuously.
He also discussed trends he had noticed picking up since the start of 2023 and noted that AI has been a massive hit in all industries this year and that it’s tremendously helpful in his profession. They have a machine that uses AI to provide patients with 3D imaging that helps them see what they may look like after their procedure. This is very helpful to ensure that patients and surgeons are on the same page. As far as surgery goes, breast implants and liposuction continue to trend steadily, and he doesn’t think it will ever really go away. However, he thinks the concept of high-volume BBLs is out the door for a while. Most people nowadays really value a more natural approach and aesthetic.

Having extreme proportions, regardless of where on the body they are, ultimately becomes very uncomfortable and even inconvenient at times. He has seen a massive uptick in requests for more natural-looking results. It seems like people want to get procedures that don’t scream to the public, “I’ve had plastic surgery,” but at the same time look enhanced enough that people in their inner circle wonder whether it be a “skinny BBL” or a “deep plane face and neck lift” for a more natural appearance.
Dr. Sean said breast augmentations topped the list when asked about his favorite procedure. The first reason breast augmentations are his favorite procedure is how it allows him to positively impact his patients’ self-confidence and self-image. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see his once shy patients return for the 3-month post-op feeling more confident than ever. The second reason is that he finds that these procedures tend to be the “gateway” to plastic surgery. After a patient leaves feeling happy and more confident, a few years down the line, after they’ve had children, now they’re ready to get a mommy makeover. They likely will come back to him because of how happy they were with their first operation, giving him another opportunity to help them leave feeling confident and sexy in their skin. Also, happy patients tell their friends about their experience, which is contagious. Across the board, the satisfaction rate for patients with breast augmentations has been around 96%, so when done well, this procedure rewards both the surgeon and the patient. Another aspect of this procedure that excites him is being able to teach other surgeons in residency looking to also go into plastic surgery and be at the forefront of the technological advancements in the industry.
With how lucrative the business is, Dr. Sean has had occasions where he turned down clients that were not fit for procedures due to unrealistic expectations, health conditions and more. He advises younger surgeons looking to specialize in the field that When considering plastic surgery, it’s important to conduct thorough research and find a reputable, board-certified plastic surgeon with experience in the specific procedure.
Ensure that the surgeon and their staff have proper credentials, and be bold and ask for details about the hospital, procedure location, and who will be in the room during the operation. Look through the surgeon’s before and after photos, including those from 6-12 months after the procedure, to ensure high-quality, long-lasting results, and take time to find the best surgeon for your specific needs.
