Self Acclaimed singer-songwriter Zoë Fae broke into the industry at the age of 22, when she recorded her first song “Kiss Me” With Producer Colin Dobash, Ever Since then, she captivated audiences around the country with her soft melodic vocals and became the youngest EDM Artist to rack up millions of streams worldwide with hit singles including “Lost Kid,” “Citrus,” Hazel” & “DIZZY”. As she’s grown and developed as an artist, Zoë Fae has dedicated time to refine her artistic message and the manner in which she conveys it. Entertainment Monthly News was lucky enough to speak with Zoë Fae about the next chapter in her career, directing her first music video, and more.

Interviewer: Zoë Fae, You started your journey in this field at a young age, a time when you were still exploring your artistic identity. What factors have exerted the most significant influence on your artistic development and progression?

Zoë Fae: Honestly I never really thought I would be a singer since growing up I was more of the shy type. I was always more into Visual Arts and I spent a lot of my time alone. I always enjoyed spending my days by myself, I would be content if I locked myself in my room and just painted the days away. I was always surrounded by music and had so much love for it, in fact, the albums I listened to in High School were the only thing that got me through my adolescence. I grew up in Hawaii on a small island called Maui, So when you grow up on an island you spend a lot of days

isolated and you have to find ways to entertain yourself. When I was 16, I spent a lot of my free time interning at this local radio station called the Paia Youth & Cultural Center and eventually worked on the Radio Station filling up time slots with my selection of music. I think during that time working on the radio station was when I truly became in love with music and that’s around when I started writing poetry.

Interviewer: Nice! Hawaii is a lovely place, I took my finance there recently. She loves the ocean out there. Who or what has exerted the most profound impact on your professional journey?

Zoë Fae: Yes! Hawaii is amazing and I feel grateful to have grown up there. I think what really shaped me into a singer songwriter was my experience of moving off the island to start my new life when I was 17. I moved to Portland Oregon. It was a big change from Hawaii and especially moving when I was so young. During that time I got more into writing and wanted to find a way to make my poetry come to life. Portland had an amazing music scene for young creatives and there were so many musicians that would perform at the parties I would go to back then. Quickly all my friends I made were musicians and I jumped into the music scene very fast. I ended up joining a band and becoming the lead vocalist. The band was called “Ozelot” and we played different venues around town and threw our own parties that we would perform at and book other bands to play with us. I played with them for four years and it was the best time EVER, we stopped playing together when I moved to Los Angeles in 2020. This whole Rockstar era of my life was definitely the most memorable time of my life and I can say it’s what shaped me into the musician I am today.

Interviewer: You’ve achieved considerable success early in your career. As you reflect on your journey, is there a specific moment that holds special significance for you?

Zoë Fae: Oh wow that’s a good question. There have been so many different moments that stand out to me. I must say the moment that really changed everything and kick started my career is when Prince Kadem reached out to me. We became friends and he helped me elevate my music. He took an interest in my music and wanted to help me take it to the next level. At this point, I was feeling down and upset about not being in a band anymore and didn’t know how to navigate being a solo artist. Kadeem really changed my music career by introducing me to his producer friends. Once I was working with professional producers, I was able to find my style and create my new sound as a solo Artist.

Interviewer: You’ve recently relocated to Miami, known for its vibrant EDM scene. How has the city’s unique energy continued to fuel your creative process and artistic development?

Zoe Fae: I’ve had my eyes on Miami ever since I went to ULTRA music festival last spring. I really loved the energy of the city and how vibrant it is. It’s kinda crazy that now I’m living in Miami. It’s a really big change compared to living in LA and It’s also far away from my hometown Hawaii. I really enjoy being on the east coast and being close to New York especially, I used to go to New York since I was a kid and I’ve always felt so inspired by that place. I filmed my music video for “HAZEII” in Brooklyn & Manhattan last summer. I am so happy with how the video turned out and how amazing NYC was to film in. I was so thrilled with the results that I decided to film my video for my new single “DIZZY” in New York. My song “DIZZY” actually has lyrics about NYC. The lyrics are “Getting dizzy in New York City, Took a subway to nowhere & I still think of you in those midnight hours, I wish I could call you..”

Interviewer: You’ve got a new single out now. Tell us about “Dizzy” and the inspiration behind it.

Zoë Fae: Yes! I’m so excited about this new single. I actually wrote this song last year. This song came to me in a dream. I once dreamt of experiencing a sense of “Dizziness” in the heart of New York City.  The setting was very ethereal and colorful. In the dream I was walking around New York and everything around me was getting blurry. Instantly after I had this dream I woke up and wrote the lyrics down. I feel like my songs kinda write themselves. After looking back at the finished song I realized that this song was about the feelings of missing someone and that person being far from reach. I feel like a lot of people have had a similar experience in their life, whether it be a friend that they don’t talk to anymore or a past relationship and you just miss having conversations. This song is very heartfelt. I want this song to relate to people that have shared similar experiences. This song is one of my most emotional tracks, Especially the timing of when I released it and during the filming of the music video. During the filming of “DIZZY” I found out some tragic news that one of my close friends had passed away. This was day 2 into

the filming of the video. I was very distraught and it was hard for me to focus during the filming, but after some time I was able to channel those deep feelings and emotions into my expressions in the video. This video and song became more powerful because of all the turbulence that occurred during the filming of the video.

Interviewer: Terribly sorry for your loved ones, may their souls rest in peace. You’re celebrating a mega success with this release as you stepped into the director’s chair for your music video, “Dizzy”. Has anything surprised you about the experience? With being the main part of the creative process of your music video “Dizzy”

Zoë Fae: Honestly it’s been such an amazing experience directing my own videos. It started with my video “LOST KID” and I also directed “HAZEII”. I also enjoy incorporating my own choreography since I have a dance background in ballet and contemporary dance. I feel like this added aspect of my music videos has lit my soul on fire because I get to have fun using all my artistic talents in one place. I am so grateful to work with my videographer Xander Martin, He’s incredible! I definitely feel like me and Xander are the “Dream Team”. He just really captures my visions perfectly. Every Time I work with him we bounce ideas back and forth and create an absolute masterpiece. I am especially excited for “DIZZY” because the song was inspired by a dream I had, and I think Xander was able to capture that dream and make it a reality.

Interviewer: I love that response teamwork makes dreamwork. So Zoë Fae You’re an artist who has been releasing music throughout the years. If you were to select one of your songs that encapsulates your identity as an artist, which track would you choose, and what makes it representative of your artistic essence?

Zoë Fae: Honestly I feel like my song “LOST KID” shows my personality the best because I ran away at such a young age and I’ve been traveling around ever since then. I would consider myself to be adventurous and free-spirited. I recently changed my Instagram handle to @lost.kid.forever and also my art account to @lost.kid.art to make the concept “LOST KID” part of my brand.

Interviewer: Oh I feel that on to the last question, you’ve talked a little bit about this next body of work. Is there a sneak peek or any intriguing details you can share about it? How will it differentiate itself from your previous releases?

Zoë Fae: I’m currently working on an album. I want it to talk about the feelings being hurt by someone and also the feelings of hurting someone. I feel like everyone wants to talk about how they’ve been hurt by someone but no one wants to talk about how they’ve been hurt by someone too. I just wanna be very real and very raw about these things. I like to talk about the hard stuff

that no one wants to talk about. I feel like music is very healing. It fills my soul up and gives me a safe space to express myself. I also want to create a safe space for people, I want people to feel safe to express their deepest and darkest emotions.

Interviewer: That’s amazing. I am glad I got the opportunity to interview you Miss Zoë Fae, you’re definitely an icon living, continuing to make great music in the EDM scene.

Zoë Fae: I genuinely appreciate this opportunity! It’s been an incredible experience to connect with you. Aloha!
