Piano lessons are somewhat of a luxury that most middle-class families can not afford. And because education and knowledge is an opportunity that should be accessible to all, Joe MacCourt founded JMP to help all and sundry acquire the required piano lesson and music education that they need to succeed as a classical or contemporary instrumentalist.
JMP operates to understand that learning, practicing, and mastering the piano is an individual journey and not a set path. They aim to help piano players unleash their hidden talents by combining personal tutoring guidance with the accessibility of online tutoring.
JMP caters to people interested in or who want to play rock, pop, country, or contemporary piano music or film. The institute targets beginners pianists (preferably those within their first 18 months of playing) and pianists of any standard who can play by reading a music sheet.
According to Joe MacCourt, the JMP online course utilizes state of the art, interactive video technology that allows the content to adapt to the students instead of adapting to the content. In his words, “I work closely with individuals throughout the week, not just once a week, to maximize guidance, accountability and, ultimately, progress.”
On what motivated him to build his brand, Joe said, “There’s a huge influx of piano-learning apps in the market that claim to use ‘cutting edge technology.'” Joe noticed that numerous traditional teachers are moving their learning online. However, no one has found the blend between the two. “My motivation lies in creating a winning platform that coaches students through the process while giving them the freedom to control their direction. It’s what I needed when I was learning, and it’s what many others need now,” he explains.
The services at JMP are different from what is obtained in other training institutions globally, thanks to their one to one tuition and its combination with online learning. This, according to Joe, creates a perfect blend of easy accessibility and personal accountability. While admitting that unlike many online piano teachers, he doesn’t have a degree in music or piano playing, “The techniques I teach stem from my years of experience in performance, either as a solo pianist or in a band, rather than from a guide or a curriculum. I’m just a regular dude who learned the right things. I’m not a prodigy or a world-famous musician,” he concludes.
Joe intends to continue to make piano lessons accessible to all regardless of their social or financial status. At the same time, he hopes to inspire anyone who wants to give back to their community and the next generation to kickstart regardless of their establishment’s scale or size.
In five years, Joe sees JMP becoming the go-to platform for learning to play piano without the need for sheet music, forming musicians across the globe. Ultimately, he wants to give back to his immediate society, especially the poor.
