VOLÉR DESIGN was founded in 2014 by forward-thinking entrepreneur and designer Jade Young. Later on, in 2019, the company took in another great name under its wings, co-founder and brand photographer Diamond Spruill. Together, Jade and Diamond aim to challenge the norms in fashion and push people outside their comfort zone through luxury streetwear.
VOLÉR DESIGN got its name from the French word VOLÉR, which means “to fly.” With its progressive and positive design, the company truly embodies the message behind its name and gives it a deeper purpose. VOLÉR believes that the only limit anyone needs to surpass is the one set by the self. Above all, the fashion brand wants to encourage and empower people to embrace who they are and fearlessly show the world who they are inside.
Jade Young shared VOLÉR DESIGN’s humble beginnings. Taking knowledge from her uncle, who owned the clothing line called BMAD (Brothers Making A Difference) , the founder proceeded to make her first 50 shirts, marking the beginning of a more significant journey ahead. The shirts sold out in two weeks, and that was when Jade felt that she found her purpose. Instead of following trends, VOLÉR DESIGN sets them. The brand has recently filed for trademark and came across an issue with VANS “OFF THE WALL” last year 2020. Allegedly, The Billion Dollar brand VANS objected to the VOLÉR DESIGN “V” mark, claiming that their brand looks too similar. “7 years I’ve been building this brand from scratch. Impacting lives one item at a time and introducing my culture to the industry. Stories like this happen all the time where bigwigs take from the smaller brands we will continue to move forward. Our moment will come.” said Jade. This brand is sure to shift the fashion game.
“We are bringing DMV fashion to the fashion industry. VOLÉR produces mood-based collections and content, so we are timeless. We don’t follow the trend; we set the trend,” said Jade Young. Additionally, VOLÉR DESIGN also strives to create opportunities for other artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives in the fashion industry. Building a brand to become a household name is one thing, but the company wants to create a more impactful legacy by gathering a community of like-minded individuals.
VOLÉR DESIGN works with local and mainstream artists to promote its ideology—DaBaby, Lil Uzi Vert, Producer Drumma Boy Fresh, and Ayo Caine to name a few. The company is also eyeing projects with Kaash Paige and NLE Choppa. “We make it a priority to provide opportunities for upcoming creatives in fashion design, photography, film, graphic design, creative direction, and modeling. We are limitless here,” Jade Young said.
With the fashion industry continually receiving a stream of hopeful creatives to make a name for themselves, VOLÉR DESIGN wants to make the process smoother as a bridge between talents to their dreams. The co-founders are keen on making things happen for others because they have been in their shoes. Jade and Diamond also started as two young kids with nothing but their passion for fashion. “Where we are from, opportunities are limited. So we decided to create them for ourselves,” said Jade Young.
The co-founders grew up together and played in the same basketball team. Their friendship goes way back even before establishing the brand. “We wanted to stand for something greater than what we were exposed to. In the beginning, we would get together and do photoshoots for VOLÉR collections. Since then, we’ve been working to make this a household name,” shared Jade.
