Brandon Lessard has landed a lead role in the 2024 western drama thriller “The Unholy Trinity”.

After his exceptional performances in numerous films, including “The Plantation”, “Robert The Bruce” and “Murder at Yellowstone City”, this will be the debut leading role for the rising Virginia-based LA star.

As per on-set sources, Lessard takes on the role of Henry Broadway, an estranged son assigned by his to-be-executed father to take out the man who falsely incriminated him. The movie features noteworthy names including Samuel L Jackson, Veronica Ferres, David Arquette, Gianni Capaldi, and Pierce Brosnan.

During a recent interview, Lessard elaborated on his deep connection to the character Henry.

“It’s hard to not get incredibly attached to the character,” Lessard said.

His initial encounter with the ‘Unholy Trinity’ script dates back to around seven years ago.

Lessard eloquently added, “I think a lot of people, myself included, can relate to the issues that Henry has with confidence and not knowing what the right choice to make is. Henry fuels my desire to always improve upon myself, and that you should never rush your work. Even if it takes seven years to finally begin filming.”

Selection and Transition Between Roles

“In terms of selecting roles, I go purely off the story”

As he puts it, “If the story is interesting, and I enjoy reading it or watching films similar to it, I’m going to want to act in it.”

The actor is known for a bleak taste of horror and crime thrillers, and though his genre remains steady, he showcases a lot of diversity in his roles.

Lessard’s performance as the father in “The Plantation” is well-known, and he steps into the shoes of the son in Unholy Trinity right after. Prior to that, he had played the cameo of a Mercenary Commander in the movie “Classified”.

When questioned about the ability of accomplished actors to switch between roles, Lessard offered his perspective: “Whenever I finish a role, I purge myself of the work I did to portray that character so that I can become a blank slate again. That way, I’m not bringing a previous performance into a new project.”

He further emphasized, “The size of the role doesn’t really concern me. The saying goes, ‘there are no small parts, just small actors.’ If a project is interesting, I’m going to want to get involved no matter what.”

A Collaborative Dream Team

The cast and crew of ‘Unholy Trinity’, as Lessard puts it, are “the most incredibly wonderful people”. When you have a group that is truly collaborative and dedicated to story-telling, he says, you can focus on your own work and be confident that the end result will blow you away.

While it was difficult for him to single out just one individual from the team, Lessard highlighted RichieGray and Thomas Stanton, the Director of Photography. He further credited them with having an “incredible impact on his career”.

Lessard expressed, “Richie Gray, and Thomas have helped mold my performance to a wonderful degree and the advice and guidance that they have both provided is something that I will carry forward for the remainder of my career.”

What lies in store for Brandon Lessard?

Since 2017’s “Broken Ghost”, the youthful actor has experienced a noticeable transformation in his approach to acting. When discussing his previous movies, he admits, “I was so uncomfortably aware that I was being filmed that I was stiff. Every line that I said felt like “a line,” not something that a human being would say. I’ve gotten much better at staying in the moment and being my character.”

Beyond any doubt, Lessard is a name we will be hearing more and more in 2024 and beyond.

Lessard has dropped hints that after Unholy Trinity, we’ll be seeing more of him in the worlds of medieval Europe and the World Wars. “There are so many people who have lived fascinating lives whose story has not been told yet. I hyper-fixate on those periods but truly any historical film would be incredible,” he added-on.
