Her feature film “Vertical” represents her talent and resilience. It was filmed in some of the harshest conditions, including in Leon Mexico Vertical is the story of a female hero who is fighting for her people. Yet, despite all the obstacles Maryam encountered, she still delivered an outstanding work that won praise from critics and viewers alike. “I started my filmmaking journey in Iran, which was very tough. There were just too many troubles attached, but I forged ahead regardless. Today, I am the first female stunt, action, horror director from Iran with multiple degrees and awards in filmmaking, directing and scriptwriting who made films in different languages and cultures,” Maryam Pirband said. She is nominated Best Director Feature Film for Dandelion Season at the T.I.F.A. International Film Festival in Brazil along with Hossein Mahdavi who is nominated for Best Sound Design for this movie. 

Maryam Pirband is an up-and-coming female filmmaker who hopes to use her story and journey to inspire, motivate and encourage other aspiring women.
