Introduced just over two years ago, OCTOBUDDY has revolutionized how content creators, celebrities, and everyday people utilize their phones. Serving as the Swiss Army Multitool of the digital world, this attachment can be anything from a hands-free recorder that can be stuck to hard surfaces to a fidget to fiddle with when work is slow. With its extreme versatility, OCTOBUDDY has started a global trend, with numerous knock-offs and spin-offs drawing inspiration from its unique design.
This phone accessory is everywhere. Whether it’s on the phones of the top TikTok content creators, A-list celebrities, social media influencers, or young individuals in tune with pop culture, they all have one thing in common. Sold in mini, normal, and max sizes, the OCTOBUDDY easily attaches to the back of a phone or phone case, with dozens of little suction cups that can attach to just about anything stickable.
Much of this phone accessory’s versatility is a testament to the versatility of Michael Ark, the founder and creator of OCTOBUDDY. A jack-of-all-trades himself, Michael wanted to find a way to give a phone the same filming capabilities as a professional camera and tripod without the cost or need to lug around heavy equipment.
With over 20 years in the entertainment industry, Michael wanted to develop a tool that could be revolutionary for content creators. And that’s precisely what he did.
The Man Behind OCTOBUDDY
For Michael Ark, OCTOBUDDY — an offshoot of his parent company, Eccentric Voyage — was yet another creative endeavor in his multifaceted career. From humble and diverse beginnings in Russia, Michael moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17 to pursue his lifelong dream of acting.
Training in the studio of renowned acting coach Ivana Chubbuck, Michael’s subsequent career achievements range from producing movies to voice acting in films and video games. Between appearing in HBO’s The Newsroom, voicing Arvo in The Walking Dead video game series, appearing in commercials for the Call of Duty franchise, and producing and appearing in various award-winning short films, Michael has his hand in just about every corner of the entertainment world, keeping busy in his myriad interests and pursuits.
Beyond the entertainment world, Michael has explored archery and become an avid sailor in his free time. Eccentric Voyage became yet another endeavor in his free time, and his invention of OCTOBUDDY was a brainchild of his years in the entertainment industry and his exploration into business endeavors.
Seeing an opportunity to innovate, Michael coined the idea of making a phone accessory that could attach a phone anywhere. Much like how octopus suction cups can attach themselves to anything, Michael developed a case attachment with the same design, coining the term OCTOBUDDY for its octopus-like appearance. The invention quickly caught the world by storm, and now the phone accessory has evolved into the next popsocket.
Continuing to Innovate
With such a revolutionary product, Michael wants to ride the momentum his business has gained within the past few years. Taking his consumers’ ideas and interests into consideration, many of Michael’s innovations in OCTOBUDDY have been direct results of customer feedback. This feedback is the cornerstone of Michael’s business model; it is how the company continues to improve its current product lineup and continues to innovate with new designs, unique colors, and other new stylings to not only stay on top of trends but also make OCTOBUDDY continuously better for consumers.
Michael Ark’s career has been anything but ordinary. From immigrating from Russia to find work as an actor to becoming a digital-era trendsetter, he has struck gold in a unique niche endeavor that has become a necessity for content creators, celebrities, and everyday users alike.
