For a journey that started from dancing right out of high school, L Frost has proven beyond doubt that the entertainment industry allows talents to evolve and pivot into other spheres and still succeed. L Frost kicked things off with a bang after well-known choreographer John “Mac” Gilliam discovered him for his dancing abilities at a high school talent show where he performed with his long-time dancing group The Bachelors.
Since he got into the dance space, L Frost has caught the attention of many industry greats, such as Stomp the Yard’s Darrin Henson, who mentored him on dancing and acting. He also connected with three-time Grammy-nominated producer Joe Capo Kent who gave him additional mentoring and guidance and toured the world with multi platinum artist Ginuwine. These gave him the leverage and credibility to work with famous artists like Chris Brown, Missy Elliot and Omarion. He has also opened for artists like Nelly, Usher, Bow Wow, J-Kwon, and others.
L Frost quickly became a recognizable figure in the dance world thanks to his quick mastery of the art and his sellable brand. On Merriam-Webster’s list of Top 10 Words of the ’80s, L Frost’s picture is used to represent the word “Hip-hop. In addition, his recognizable dance silhouettes have been used on many marketing materials ranging from dance studio posters to MTV’s Randy Jackson’s America’s Best Dance Crew Season Five’s runner-up Blueprint Cru. He’s also worked as a model with his face gracing the cover of the Paper Jamz Pro Star Microphone package, the billboard poster for Step Up 3D, and the book series Hood Misfits by Carl Weber.
L Frosh pivoted from dancing into music for a while and was known as Lil Pup. During his stint in music, he wrote songs for artists like Lamar Ashe, Ebony Eyez and Tydis. He also collaborated with his famous multi platinum Hip-hop artist Chingy, who also happens to be his cousin on the song “Fallin.” The song went on to chart in Africa and Australia and was nominated for song of the year.
With all his successes as an entertainer, L Frost had eyes for other things, especially gaming. His image was used for the front cover of The Hip-hop Dance Experience interactive dance game available on Xbox360 and Nintendo Wii. His current work in entertainment is on a television series with his production company Clearlion Productions. L Frost thrives on his ability to adapt and evolve successfully in any industry. He has built a brand in multiple niches and is still ready to expand if the opportunity presents itself.
One distinct thing that L Frost takes pride in is seeing everyone in the entertainment industry as potential partners. He does not care about competition or being better than anyone. Instead, he sees them as future opportunities for collaboration and creation, which explains why he has recorded numerous successes in all the industries he has found himself in.
His interest in entertainment was mainly influenced by his constant traveling and moving around as a young child. His father worked in Special Forces, and the family had to move around a lot. He mingled with many people, and when he realized he could dance, it was easy for him to blend into the mix and build his name in the industry. With how much he has done as an entertainer, he sees the next five years as another opportunity to project his name and abilities further. He sees his production company becoming a more significant part of the industry, enjoying the success of the shows currently in production.
