Pursuing a career in the entertainment industry is a highly daunting and challenging task, and although most associate entertainers with glitz, glam, and fame, people in the industry know better. At most, entertainers are always working their socks off to further their careers, frequently faced with the reality of rejection and other career-defining challenges. Making it big in entertainment, on the other hand, is wholly a different matter that requires the same dedication, a whole lot of resilience, and an enduring passion.
Being in the industry means perpetually training and exploring ways of getting better at the craft. It makes no difference if someone is oozing charisma and confidence; people who run the enterprise will always tell them to improve. Moreover, budding entertainers will have to find ways to get their names out there, like taking workshops, going on auditions, utilizing the power of social media, and so much more.
For Harry Osterhoudt Jr, who has been in the entertainment industry for quite some time now, building his career from the ground up demanded perseverance and a whole lot of patience. Osterhoudt was born in Irvington, New Jersey and is the youngest of five siblings. He attended the Raritan Valley Community College during his college years but later shifted to the Simmons College of Kentucky, where he took up video and film production. Before launching his entertainment career, Osterhoudt played semi-pro basketball for five years with the American Basketball Association.
While being on hiatus from basketball for two years, the New Jersey native was able to launch his acting career by being featured in 2009’s famous biopic “Notorious,” all while doing stand-up comedy at local bars like the Stress Factory Comedy Club, Scottie Comedy Cove, and Broadway Comedy Club in New York City. Later on, Osterhoudt starred in more shows like Starz Power Season 6 in 2019, Love & Hip Hop, The Politician Season 2 in 2020, Starz PowerBook Season 2, and Amazon Harlem in 2021. In addition, he was featured in the hit web series Trappin’, Those Who Can’t, and was cast in feature films like NBC’s The Blue Labyrinth. Besides building a thriving acting career, Osterhoudt also dabbled in professional modeling, often appearing in print and on the runway for numerous local boutiques and designers in the New Jersey area.
Osterhoudt is proud of how far he has come since establishing his entertainment career. He often refers to his passion for creativity and determination to be the backbone of his flourishing profession.
“Being published is a huge accomplishment for any entertainer. It shows that my hard work and dedication are being acknowledged, and it gives the opportunity to showcase my personal growth,” Osterhoudt proudly states, adding that as an upcoming entertainer, feeling lost can be natural. “Don’t give up. I played small roles in major shows, but I’ve gained experience, and I will carry that with me forever.”
The actor’s primary motivation is his family and to prove that he can overcome anything as long as he puts his heart into it. Currently, Osterhoudt is slated to perform at an upcoming Broadway comedy show.
