Central Coast International Film Festival Wraps Up: A Night of Winners and Networking

The Central Coast International Film Festival, hosted in the scenic locale of Oxnard, California, at the Elite Theatre Company, culminated its festivities on Saturday, February 3rd, with a day full of compelling film screenings from 10 am to 6:00 pm and an eagerly awaited award ceremony. This premier event, known for its rich diversity in film selection and celebration of filmmaking talent, did not disappoint, offering both attendees and participants an unforgettable experience of cinematic excellence at an iconic venue. 

The festival was created by Joss Refauvelet, a director, videographer, and editor passionate about storytelling, and hosted by Mexican American actress Lea Roman. As for the venu, the Elite Theatre Company, located in Oxnard, California, is a community-driven venue that enriches local culture through the performing arts. With a focus on producing a diverse range of plays, including contemporary works and classic dramas, the theater is dedicated to fostering artistic growth and providing educational opportunities. It serves as a vital space for emerging and established artists to showcase their talents, offering audiences engaging theatrical experiences. The theater’s commitment to the arts makes it a cornerstone of the Oxnard community, supporting creativity and encouraging public participation in the arts.

This year’s festival was not just a testament to the artistry of film but also a prime networking event, supported by an array of distinguished sponsors. Among them were Amoretti, known for their exquisite food and beverage products; Gate 23 Entertainment, a pioneer in airline distribution; The Mystery Shop, a haven for comic book enthusiasts; Pipiripau, a brand celebrated for its unique clothing line; and Talk Global Media, a leader in the independent worldwide sales of film, television, and digital content. Representatives from each sponsor were present and added a unique flavor to the festival, enhancing the overall experience and offering attendees not just a feast for the eyes but an opportunity to engage with industry peers and brands in a meaningful way. Attendees were also treated to swag bags filled with goodies, courtesy of the festival’s sponsors, making the event not only a showcase of cinematic talent but also a celebration of the broader film community and its supporters. 

The highlight of the festival was, undoubtedly, the award ceremony, where the crème de la crème of this year’s entries were honored for their outstanding contributions to the world of cinema.

In an exciting development, the Central Coast International Film Festival is transitioning to a bi-annual event. This change allows for even more opportunities to showcase the diverse and dynamic talents from around the globe.
