Gerian Taylor, professionally known as BIGG GINN, isn’t just another name on the rise in the music industry—he represents a movement built on faith, fight, and full-circle purpose. Straight from the tough streets of West Boulevard in Charlotte, North Carolina, BIGG GINN has turned pain into performance, trauma into testimony, and struggle into sound.
For many, success is measured by followers or streams. For BIGG GINN, it’s about impact. “I aim to do more than just gain fans—I want people to feel seen, heard, and motivated when they hear me,” he says. His words carry weight because they’re lived. From growing up in a crowded home with five siblings to surviving the loss of his brother to police violence at 13, his entire life has been a balancing act of survival and spiritual growth.
BIGG GINN is the voice of experience. And that experience wasn’t easy.
In 2015, his life took another major turn when he found himself facing a double homicide charge. What could’ve ended everything became a turning point that reshaped his path. “When you’ve been that close to losing it all, your perspective shifts,” he says. “Now I value every breath, every verse, every moment.”
And every moment matters, especially to his five children—four boys and one girl—who represent the next generation of his legacy. “They keep me grounded,” he shares. “I’ve faced challenges most people couldn’t imagine, and I want them to see me not just as their dad, but as proof that growth is possible, no matter where you start.”
What makes BIGG GINN’s story so compelling is that he’s not asking for a handout—he’s building from the ground up. As an independent artist who records and engineers his own music, he’s eliminating the middleman. “I handle the artistry, the studio work, and the soundboard,” he laughs. “That’s what happens when you dedicate yourself to mastering your craft.”
And his craft is versatile. BIGG GINN flows across genres with ease—hip-hop, trap, soul, conscious rap, and everything in between. His storytelling is raw, his delivery commanding, and his messages layered. “I want my music to resonate with everybody,” he says. “Old, young, rich, struggling—but I’d love to create more music that connects with the ladies. I feel like I’m only scratching the surface there.”
Outside of music, BIGG GINN is as real as it gets. He enjoys fishing, painting, traveling, and connecting with people through everyday experiences. It’s this relatability that keeps his fanbase growing. People don’t just listen to BIGG GINN—they find inspiration in his journey.
His goals extend beyond the mic. He aspires to launch mentorship programs for young boys who, like him, had to grow up fast. He wants to teach music production, share his story on bigger stages, and eventually write a book. “I’ve navigated some of life’s toughest challenges and still found a way forward. If my story can help others, that’s what matters.”
His next project is likely to showcase even more of his range—emotionally, sonically, and lyrically. With eyes on national platforms and ears in the streets, BIGG GINN is poised to rise beyond Charlotte and make his mark on the global map.
