Pursuing one’s passion is great. But it’s another profound thing altogether to envision success that goes beyond the self. Andrea Cordero, better known as addiRockART, has spent the past 15 years working alongside creators, artists, designers, musicians, actors, and other creatives, building their careers as they rise to fame. Today, she wants to focus more on her own legacy as an artist while still continuing to build a community of like-minded individuals.
addiRockART is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, but she has traveled across the United States and the UK. The artist is of Mexican-American descent, a true Chicana at heart. She is also proud of her Italian and Aztec heritage. Andrea wants to showcase the diversity of her lineage and the vibrancy of Mexican culture through her art. She is recognized for her distinct take on Calavera portraits, featuring modern muses usually composed of men.
Besides fine art and digital art, addiRockART has worked with various creatives from the film and entertainment industries. Her ultimate goal is to create a global tribe of “ARTfluencers” that would be open to supporting other creatives in the scene to grow and achieve their dreams together. Additionally, Andrea seeks to uplift struggling artists from Baltimore, Maryland, as well as Peterborough, England and other parts of the UK to enter the scene professionally.
Over the years, addiRockART has voluntarily made merchandise and developed branding strategies for struggling creatives. “Since the Myspace days, I’ve always volunteered for causes and been very passionate about supporting other creatives, including musical artists and actors. Many of the people I knew or grew up with over the years have gone on to have brands and success,” shared Andrea. “I feel it’s time to focus on me,” she added.
addiRockART has contributed significantly to the success of various names in the industry today. “I used to volunteer and help people on Warped Tour, and Youtube, who have had successful recording careers, and now have self-named, successful brands,” the artist said. After helping others achieve and scale their careers, Andrea aims to take her own path to the next level. “I want to be a full-time creative, support my family, and be able to actually champion causes with some authority,” she said.
Furthermore, using her skills and talent amid the pandemic, addiRockART has continually provided artworks and ads to help brands and charities boost their individual campaigns during these trying times. Andrea has risen to support many causes. Among her most recent is supporting COVAID, an all star football match geared to support Mask Our Heroes, a movement across the country that masks modern heroes.
addiRockART is also one of the pioneer supporters of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement as she saw how the Black community came together in unison in Baltimore. With the success she envisions for herself as an artist, she aims to amplify the voice of those who support the BLM movement louder worldwide.
As an artist born to an immigrant father, addiRockART knows how difficult it is for a woman artist from a minority group to rise in the landscape. She is also a survivor of an assault and robbery, leaving her with PTSD. Despite her challenging journey, Andrea remains determined to dominate as an artist and pay her success forward by uplifting others along with her. A decade and a half later, it is indeed time for this artist to rise.
