Emerging from the dynamic landscape of today’s country music scene, Jay Ernest is making a powerful debut with his album Hold Your Horses. Receiving widespread praise, the record delivers a unique blend of fresh sounds while honoring the legacy of country music greats. With tracks that captivate and resonate, Hold Your Horses is already making waves—particularly with two standout singles charting high on iTunes. The anthem Take Country Back climbed to the #1 spot, striking a chord with fans yearning for authenticity in a genre that can feel oversaturated. The title track, Hold Your Horses, followed closely behind at #2. These songs showcase Jay’s skill for classic storytelling—one of the cherished elements of great country music.
Co-written with Grammy-nominated, CMT award-winning songwriter David Ray Stevens, well known for his work on hits like Save Me and Son of a Sinner by Jelly Roll, Hold Your Horses was shaped by Stevens’ incredible songwriting influence. Jay shared, “It was an honor to collaborate with such a talented songwriter.”
With a style often compared to the legendary Johnny Cash, Jay Ernest’s music blends deep, evocative vocals with powerful lyrics that explore timeless themes of love, loss, family, and resilience. His work evokes the spirit of traditional country music while infusing it with a modern twist, making it accessible to both old fans and a new generation. As he continues to grow in his career, Jay plans to perform over 120 live shows in 2025, including an exciting two-month European tour.
In addition to his work as a solo artist, Jay leads the Hall of Fame-inductee Johnny Cash tribute band Church of Cash and has graced iconic venues like 3Ten at Austin City Limits and the Iron Horse in Daytona.
Jay is also the co-writer and star of Folsom Prison Experience, a groundbreaking theatrical production that reimagines Johnny Cash’s legendary 1968 Folsom State Prison concert. In this immersive experience, the audience becomes the prisoners of Folsom and interacts with the cast for a truly unique show.
Deeply committed to connecting with his fans, Jay believes in the power of music to heal, inspire, and bring people together. As he looks ahead to an exciting year, Jay remains dedicated to his craft and loyal supporters.
