In his quest for greener pastures, Mustapha Bello, aka T-Kross, left Nigeria for the United States of America. And this quest has lightened up his desire to pursue stardom through music. He’s an independent artist trying to chart a course in Hollywood in the United States. With an Afrobeats background from Nigeria, he is making a seamless transition to blend into the pop music scene in the United States.
He is popularly called “the boy with an accent” by people who have interacted with him, but like most immigrants, he believes he has a real shot at stardom. T-Kross has put in the work to set himself apart as an entertainer with more than fifty recorded songs to his credit. He has also shot two seasons of two web series, which are available on Instagram and YouTube.
Based in the New York area, he currently works two jobs while juggling his career in entertainment on the side as he hopes to get a big break soon. He is also a computer science major student in college. T-Kross has performed in many states across the US, and his music is gradually growing on people. He recently released a single titled “Tonight,” in which he featured Atlanta-based artist, Play. This single is a feel-good R&B/hip-hop sound that exudes sexiness and a calm and groovy feeling. Chykeyz produced the song, and Swaps mastered and mixed the song.
T-Kross operates under the Finix Entertainment imprint, and every day, he lives with the strong resolution that his hard work is going to pave the way for him as a musician. The unique thing about the boy with an accent is that he does not try to sound too American. He is staying true to his roots while trying to make his music accepted by Americans. He believes that if he tries to go all American, he is only going to sound like many other artists, and he does not want that.
Being a college student, working two jobs, and building a career from scratch as a Nigerian immigrant all at the same time are not his favorite things to do, but he values stories of humble beginnings. He understands that for every story of a great man, there is a beginning. His music is targeted toward young people from any race and tribe who enjoy hip-hop and R&B music.
He is leveraging his African heritage, his good looks, voice, and lyrical prowess to propel his career, and so far, they all seem to be working. He is not just a Nigerian immigrant; he is also fighting for a superstar spot and proving that he can also make it.
Besides his love for entertainment, the motivation to take his career seriously comes from his desire to be an entrepreneur. Now being an independent artist, he is the one in charge of his own brand, and his brand is his business. In his words, T-Kross says, “Being an entrepreneur has always been my dream, so if music and acting is the way to make that dream come true; then I will build my brand using whatever legal tools are available to me today.”
In five years’ time, T-Kross expects that the name would have become a global brand in both music and acting. He also plans to delve into tech and open a movie production studio. Being an immigrant will not stop him in any way, and he wants to prove that to the entire world.
