From the block parties of the Bronx to the dance floors of global festivals, DJing has always been more than just playing records—it’s a craft, a culture, and an art form that bridges generations. The rise of hip-hop, house, and electronic music owes its heartbeat to the DJs who have shaped the sonic landscape through turntablism, beat juggling, and crowd control mastery. Few embody this legacy like Mannie Fresh, Big Freedia, and The Les Twins—icons who have not only influenced music but have redefined performance itself. Now, they are bringing their expertise and passion to JNGL BATTLE: SB LIX, an event designed to showcase and elevate the next generation of DJ talent.
JNGL, Founded by Deante Chisley, is a driving force behind the evolution of DJ culture. Born from the underground warehouse scenes of Washington, D.C., and Miami, JNGL has built a reputation as the proving ground for the most skilled and innovative DJs. It’s where raw talent meets high stakes, where turntables separate the elite from the amateurs, and where true crowd control is tested. JNGL champions the essence of real disc jockeying, pushing the boundaries of what it means to be behind the decks. By curating a space where artistry, competition, and education intersect, JNGL is keeping the craft alive and thriving.
On February 6, 2025, Republic NOLA will transform into the ultimate battleground for JNGL BATTLE: SB LIX, a high-stakes DJ showdown where skill, creativity, and audience engagement take center stage. Six contestants will receive their tracklists 24 hours before the battle, forcing them to rely on instinct, technical prowess, and sheer artistry to win over the crowd. The competition features special appearances and judging from industry heavyweights—including Mannie Fresh, The Les Twins, Big Freedia, DJ Trauma, and Lenny S. of Roc Nation, and a $5,000 grand prize for the winning contestant. Most importantly, the audience determines who claims the title of King or Queen of the Jungle, making every transition, every drop, and every moment a decisive factor.
“This is where the pulse of the city meets the rhythm of the beat,” says Deante Chisley, CEO of JNGL. “New Orleans has a rich musical heritage, and we’re excited to bring the JNGL experience to a city that lives and breathes rhythm. Expect an adrenaline-fueled battle where only the best will rise to the top.”
Beyond the Battle: Building a Community for DJs
Beyond the competition, JNGL is building a community where DJs can grow and refine their craft. Through mentorship from Hall of Fame DJs and industry veterans, competitors and attendees alike gain invaluable insights into the art of mixing, blending, and reading a crowd. JNGL extends beyond a single event, serving as a cultural pillar that preserves and elevates DJing as a true performance art.
For those who crave the after-hours experience, the night doesn’t end when the battle is over. The winning DJ will host an exclusive after-party at ARORA inside Republic NOLA, keeping the energy high long after the last record spins.
Looking ahead, JNGL continues its mission to push DJ culture forward with upcoming battles and mentorship programs in major music hubs. Tickets for JNGL BATTLE: SB LIX are available now on Eventbrite. Don’t miss your chance to witness history in the making and be part of the movement that’s redefining what it means to be a DJ.
