American hip-hop artist Ayestí is undoubtedly the next up-and-coming talent in the music industry today after consistently creating songs that resulted in an awe-inspiring number of streams on various platforms over the past months. The Ohio-born artist is out to make more surprises that are bound to impress various music producers and record companies in the future.
Born Adrian Thomas Townsel, Ayestí used to go by the name 4gmusiq. This January 2021, the rising artist made headlines on Fox-affiliate news stations and CBS when his single Mind Games generated more than 10,000 streams in just a month’s time. In 2020, he also made some waves when his single titled “Martian” became a crowd favorite, propelling it to popularity after being part of several playlists and famous YouTube channels, Royal Vibe and RapLayer.
Prior to establishing his music career, Ayestí was a constant honor student while in high school. He was most inclined toward finance and math. Upon finishing high school, he realized that there is more to life after high school than just pursuing a college education and getting a 9-5 job. After the death of local artist SpaceBoii, whom he used to make songs with while he was still in school, he released a remix of the song “Uber Everywhere” but eventually deleted it.
At present, his songs are mostly influenced by Boys Like Girls, Billie Eilish, and Big Sean. He is very open when it comes to creating new songs and is keen on exploring other genres that he can incorporate into his music.
“I am the type of guy that will learn, learn, and learn,” Ayestí reveals. “I want to have all the knowledge of a record label and remain one person. I can mix music, harmonize, make a beat, find a key to a song, and generally speaking, sing. There is nothing in the music business that I am not willing to learn and master. Unless a new label deal approaches, I will keep learning and keep striving to be great,” he adds.
Inspired by the idea of being able to go head to head with traditional record labels even without the right connections in the music industry, Ayestí is willing to do whatever it takes to master the dynamics of being in the business. Change is something that he hopes to add to the industry after seeing that a lot of artists have fallen into the trap of greed and love for money. He has also seen how so many singers who were backed by big label companies eventually ended up in debt or broke simply because no one was there to actively guide them on how to best move forward.
Ultimately, Ayestí sees himself owning his own music label someday. He will not easily give up singing and producing new songs as he still dreams of working alongside some of the industry’s biggest names in the future. Secondary to this, he dreams of helping out as many aspiring artists as he can in their goal to be recognized in the music industry. The entrepreneur in him prompted him to help these people achieve their goals, and he wants to make a lasting impact on others by guiding them toward success.
