Nigerian musician and music executive Nneamaka Keke, also known as Emezzy, has committed himself to helping as many artists as possible grow through his record label, S.B.G Records.
Established in 2016, S.B.G Records is a record company that takes independent artists by the hand and walks them toward stardom and success. S.B.G, which stands for “Self Boss Gang,” is a name inspired by Nneamaka Keke’s situation as an independent artist working hard to be heard and seen by a global audience. He established the record label to give other independent musicians like him a shot at success. The label offers career management, artist promotion, record deals, music marketing, and music distribution services.
Emezzy’s journey into music began when he was 15 years old, and upon completion of his high school education, he took music up full-time. He began his music journey all by himself and has weathered numerous storms that he’s sure many others are going through. This explains the ideology behind S.B.G Records, which has a slogan that says, “Together we are strong, Together we are a Team, We are self-made. S.B.G.” Emezzy released the single “Foreign Ride” featuring Shaelowill in August 2020 and followed up with an EP titled Aquarius in 2021.
As a Nigerian, Emezzy’s focus is geared toward global impact. He has seen how music is crossing borders and breaking barriers of culture, race, language and tribe. Thus, S.B.G Records also plans to expand its reach to independent artists in Africa, especially his home country, Nigeria. In addition, the record label’s publishing page is dedicated to helping artists struggling with music distribution and marketing.
S.B.G Records’ goal is to help artists gain worldwide recognition and prominence. “Music has become more accessible, and at the same time, artists are finding it hard to break out and stand out. Over the next few years, Emezzy’s goals include releasing numerous chart-topping songs, signing promising artists and helping them put out chart-topping songs. He hopes to be a part of many people’s success stories while relishing the fact that he helped them get a start in the highly competitive music industry. “Global relevance and acceptance are achievable feats in the world right now. We will make sure to leverage all the tools available and project me and as many other artists as possible into the spotlight. I’m confident we can make it happen, and we have begun to lay the groundworks for that,” Emezzy said.
