How Kiana Shaw Turned Her Passion for Dancing to a Thriving Business Venture

The illustrious Martha Graham once said, “Great dancers are not great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion.” The wise statement has profoundly resonated with gifted dancer and choreographer Kiana Shaw. Inspired and motivated to demonstrate and hone her love for the craft, the incredible young woman created Fab and Fit Dance.

Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, the inspiring entrepreneur has been dancing her whole life. She performed her first ballet recital when she was still in the first grade, which she consistently did until senior high school. On top of that, she was also part of an award-winning dance group in high school as well as the Junior Memphis Grizzlies dance team.

However, the talented individual is not only an excellent performer, but she also has an innate ability for teaching. She first started after graduating high school, where she took on the role of a Zumba instructor.

Eventually, Kiana Shaw moved to Chicago, where she created an outstanding brand committed to bringing dance, art, and culture to the community. Through Fab and Fit Dance, she teaches dance cardio fitness and hip-hop classes.

What makes the remarkable company stand out is its mission of promoting healthy living and demonstrating the relevance of expressing oneself through the art of dance. Most importantly, the minority-run venture advocates body positivity and inclusivity, which is much-needed in today’s society.

Aside from owning and managing Fab and Fit Dance, Kiana Shaw used to be a dance coach for private schools in the suburbs of North Chicago Suburbs, and she also has a competitive dance team of girls ages 6 to 16. The versatile teacher’s extensive experience allows her to teach all kinds of students, from beginners to those who have already received training.

Her stellar track record speaks volumes about her passion for dancing and instructing. In addition, the impressive woman has expertly separated herself from her peers by advocating for her students.

She works tirelessly with the girls she teaches to ensure that they are given opportunities to receive dance scholarships in college. After all, her primary motivation for building her brand is to empower young black girls through the power of dance. She knows that this is possible as an amazing individual herself because she has graduated from Ole Miss University as a dance scholar.

Undoubtedly, the fantastic entrepreneur and choreographer is making a significant impact on the lives of many. As for her plans for the future, the insightful young woman shared, “We are working on our goal of building a multiplex dance studio. I am also writing a book to share my journey on how to build a life of dance.”

Moving forward, she plans to elevate her success and scale Fab and Fit Dance. Moreover, she hopes to inspire and help more young minds and give back to the community.

Ultimately, Kiana Shaw’s immense accomplishments are a testament that passion goes a long way and opportunities are given to those that work hard to accomplish their goals. To know more about Fab and Fit Dance, check out its official website.
