Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts Continues to Open Its Doors to Aspiring MMA Fighters and Fitness Enthusiasts

Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts is the first-ever MMA Academy in Brooklyn. It has been nominated as the 4th Best MMA School in the entire New York City, offering a variety of fitness classes for kids of all ages, a women’s program, and so much more.

The academy opened up its doors back in 2008 with the clear goal of becoming Brooklyn’s number one MMA Academy. Students and fighters of various backgrounds have never been stronger through the team’s hard work and dedication. With its stellar reputation in the field of MMA, the academy has had no difficulty bringing in some of the most prominent names and talents on the planet to impart their knowledge and skills with their students through a constant outpouring of UFC Fighter seminars. Additionally, distinguished individuals like Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz, Chris Weidman, and Luck Rockhold have been quite generous when sharing their expertise in the field.

At the helm of its operations is head coach Terry Gold, an eminent figure in the industry who has been known to bring in some of the best talents in the world.

While Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts mainly focuses on training aspiring fighters, they are also well-known for helping people get into shape and teaching them how to defend themselves. According to the team, the heart and soul of their academy are the kids, referring to them as the future shakers and movers. The academy has a kids fitness program for kids aged four to seven, a junior warrior’s program for kids aged eight to twelve, and a teen MMA program for kids aged thirteen to seventeen.

“We have many different kid’s programs starting from ages four and up. You don’t need to be great to start. You need to start to be great,” they share. “One of the greatest joys is watching our kids move up to our junior warrior program, to our teen MMA program, and then to our adult program.”

Furthermore, the academy also boasts of a women’s only program that runs seven days a week, with classes in the morning and at night, offering a variety of fitness classes and so much more. As stated by the academy, the class is excellent for cardio but is also a great way to learn boxing and kickboxing techniques.

There is also an adult MMA program for interested individuals, regardless of whether they have any experience or not. Since being established in 2008, the academy is best known for having developed an amateur and professional fight team with several homegrown champions fighting at the highest level. The class is a mixture of striking and grappling at most but will also consist of other techniques such as takedowns, takedown defense, competition prep, conditioning, and more.

Private sessions are also available, where the academy’s trainers will help any individual reach their fitness needs and goals through a variety of tailored programs.

“We understand that some clients have tight and hectic schedules and that it may be difficult finding an effective workout regimen. If they cannot make it in time for classes, we can work with them one-on-one based on their availability,” Head coach Terry Gold explains, adding that private sessions can range from fitness and conditioning to MMA.

In five years or so, Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts hope to expand and open other MMA academies across the country, with Florida as their first destination, continuously helping aspiring individuals who wish to stay fit, condition their bodies, or learn the art of martial arts.
