Daniel Craig Explains Why His Children Won’t Be Getting an Inheritance

Source: CNN

“Inheritance is distasteful.”

This is according to the iconic actor of the latest James Bond movies, Daniel Craig, after revealing that he will not be leaving his children an inheritance. “Isn’t there an old adage that if you die a rich person, you’ve failed?” Craig said in an interview as reported by The Telegraph. Accordingly, the most recent personification of the iconic agent 007 admits that he intends to leave his children nothing once he passes his estate on to the beneficiary.

People will remember Daniel Craig for his many movies that have gone on to become massive hits. In 2012, Skyfall, one of the more recent Bond movies that Daniel Craig starred in, made a whopping $951 million in the box office, in which Craig reportedly earned 10.7 million pounds. That became the fourth highest earnings by any actor in that year.

Despite that, Daniel admits that his children will not see the spillovers of his years of hard work and financial success. Daniel and his wife, Rachel Weisz, have one daughter, who was born in late 2018. The actor also has another daughter named Ella from a previous relationship with Fiona Loudon, born back in the 1990s. Ella has also been carving out a name and place for herself in show business, appearing in numerous films, including Memory’s Paradigm (2007), Cold Blood (2008), Texas Road (2010), and many others. She also appeared in a recent drama entitled Trauma Is a Time Machine. The movie follows the story of a woman looking to escape trauma after being raped by her boyfriend.

Explaining where his wealth would end up, Daniel Craig implied that he would probably give a chunk of his estate to charity. “I think Andrew Carnegie, an American industrialist from the 1800s, gave away what in today’s money would be about $11 billion, which shows how rich he was because I’ll bet he kept some of it too,” said Craig. But another statement points to the possibility that he will probably use up most of his proceeds before he kicks the bucket. “My philosophy is get rid of it or give it away before you go.”

Skyfall isn’t the only movie that provided a hefty paycheck for Daniel. He has appeared on many more blockbusters that have gone on to become massive financial successes. For his upcoming and last Bond film, No Time To Die, it’s reported that the movie’s leading man will receive a check to the tune of $25 million. Craig has also appeared on other box office winners, including Cowboys and Aliens, Knives Out, The Golden Compass, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and many others.

Daniel Craig is currently 53 years old and married to Rachel Weisz, a famous movie icon who has played roles in other successful movies like The Mummy franchise and the most recent Black Widow. However, the two remain very quiet about their personal life as Daniel shares it is a deliberate effort on their part.

“The fact is that privacy is a hugely important part of my life, and this being a celebrity makes me nervous, actually,” Craig explains. “There is a side of my life that I just choose not to share and not to discuss. I think people’s private life is something private, and that’s that.”
