How U.S. Army Combat Veteran Timothy Colbert-Kemp, aka The Amazing T.k., Found His Voice

Following his incredible years of service with the United States Army, combat veteran Timothy Colbert-Kemp, better known by his stage name The Amazing T.k., realized how short life is for people not to pursue their passion. Hence, he took a leap of faith and entered the entertainment industry. Despite leaving the army with PTSD, Timothy never allowed his mental illness to limit his momentum in Hollywood, and he has made it his mission to inspire other veterans to also chase their dreams regardless of the odds. Today, he is one of the most promising multi-talented artists in the game who has delved into acting, writing, music, producing, video game designing and developing.

Timothy is currently focusing on a number of projects. He recently spearheaded the creation of an immersive video game and released it to the public with great pride. Timothy is also set to hit the big screen with his upcoming film. On top of that, the multi-faceted artist thrills his growing fanbase with his unique music, giving them the perfect blend between golden-age hip hop and modern hip hop, all mixed in his own take on the genre. His single, “Weed and Wine,” for example, showcase his undeniable talent as a songwriter. His music lures “listeners with ethereal sound” and brings a cinematic twist on the hip hop like never before heard in the industry.

In addition, his 80s-inspired synth tones have led him to collaborate and work with some of the biggest artists in the music scene today. His album, The Hollywood Callback, perfectly encapsulated his personality and iconic atmospherics, delivering his unmistakable style with every note. His music takes inspiration from the works of Drake, Jay-Z, Mac Miller, and Logic, but he never fails to make them his own. As a result, his music is distinct and brings something fresh to the table that makes listeners easily identify his sound from the rest of the noise.

“After putting my life on the line every day for a year in Afghanistan doing route clearance, I decided that if I survived, I’d make something amazing of myself. That led to leveling up my craft and learning complementary ones as well,” Timothy said. “I’ll be an inspirational story to some while releasing unbelievably great music during a time when the music industry needs it most,” he added. Having been honorably discharged from the army in 2010, the artist moved to Southern California to start his new adventure.

As an independent artist, Timothy aims to pave the way for others who do not have the support of major music labels or producers to take their shots. The road may not always be easy, but having been through the journey himself, the artist ensures them that it is a road worth taking. For a combat veteran who has gone through hardships, Timothy believes that anything is possible, and just as he has overcome the hurdles thrown his way, the artist believes that anyone can be just as strong and capable as he is, no matter what their dream could be if one truly wants to rewrite their story for the better.
