Self-Made Rapper and Music Producer Insira Elevates His Skills During the Pandemic

The pandemic put a lot of people in a state of limbo last 2020. Everyone was unsure about the future, what would happen next, and when the nightmare would end. Hawaii-based rapper, songwriter, and music producer Insira experienced the same dilemma as everyone else. Instead of waiting for things to start getting better, he decided to stay productive and focused on upgrading his skills, from the business side of releasing songs to attending production classes online. He did these on top of getting extremely sick for a season and worrying about his mother’s vulnerable condition.

The pandemic opened a new opportunity for Insira to elevate his game in the absence of his mentors, who taught him everything he knew about the industry. Since they could not physically come together to produce new songs, he took it upon himself to build a home studio from scratch. With hard work and a lot of creativity, he transformed his bedroom into an intergalactic-themed workspace where he created his most recent singles.

The 28-year-old rising artist and music producer released his single “Dear Mama” last year at the height of the pandemic and generated 54,000 streams on Spotify. The single is Insira’s beautiful and emotional tribute to his mother, who was diagnosed with cancer. The song reveals his extraordinary journey with his mother, from the time she told him the shocking news to their present battle to overcome the disease. His songwriting skills were put to the test in this particular project as he poured out his soul, fears, and pain from seeing his mother suffer. In the end, he came out victorious when the fans responded with so much love.

Aside from “Dear Mama,” he also released several other singles in 2020 that include “Anxiety,” “Neverland,” “Freestyling I’m Vulnerable,” “Just Dreamin,” and “Trapped in a Nightmare.” Among all his recent releases, however, it was “Dear Mama” that undoubtedly captured the hearts of thousands of fans.

In total, Insira was able to produce 20 tracks from the comforts of his home, including his upcoming album titled Pieces of Myself. The unexpected opportunity to work alone to produce his songs allowed him to explore some freestyle techniques, cementing his belief that a music artist does not have to stick to one genre to become famous. He opted to take the road less traveled and embraced several genres in creating his new album, which fans will soon be able to listen to. The freedom he enjoyed when he called the shots to produce his album changed his perspective for good.

“Through my 15-year journey trying to make a name for myself as an artist and now producer, I can’t think of one person I met in the industry that stayed in my life forever,” Insira reveals. “So letting someone control my life in a way that isn’t making me happy isn’t gonna happen. So I learn what I can from every encounter I come across. I enjoy the ride when it’s there, but I never expect anything. I just keep working toward my goals, continue to put myself out there, take the opportunities when they come, stay grounded, true to myself, and most importantly, try my best to stay humble,” he finishes.

Alongside completing his album, Insira also successfully launched his clothing brand just recently. Grimes Magazine ranked him number 10 among its top 20 indie artists. He has also been in talks with big music labels who want to be part of his music journey, but he has yet to decide which label he sees himself working with long-term.

Just recently, Insira did an upgrade on his home studio, he wanted to do something special, he then decided to take things upon himself  by surprising his identical twin brother Corey with the gear insira usedCorey has been going through some personal challenges, which prompted Insira to do something special to cheer him up.

With fans more than eager to see what the artist did with his new album, there is no doubt that they will love it for its authenticity.
